The Korinthos – Tripoli – Kalamata motorway and Lefktro – Sparti branch is part of the second stage of the modernisation and development scheme, of the country’s major road networks, executed through co-financed projects, which were awarded after the year 2000. The objective of the project, which is part of the Trans-European Network (TEN), is to form one of the main factors of the regional development of the Central and Southern Peloponnese and particularly the districts of Arkadia, Argolida, Messinia and Lakonia.
